Goldie Eldridge

Goldie Eldridge, 87, of Rhodes, died early Friday morning, September 7, in the peace of her home with her family at her side and in the care of Iowa Hospice. Graveside memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 9, at the Clemons Cemetery. There will be no visitation. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Born Goldie DeVault on February 9, 1925, at Marshalltown, she was the daughter of Travis Lee and Mabel Edna (Bollman) DeVault. She received her education in the Rhodes Public School. On May 5, 1939, she was united in marriage to Howard Eldridge in Eldora, Iowa. They made their home in Rhodes where they raised five children. Mrs. Eldridge was a member of the Rhodes United Methodist Church. Left to cherish her memory is her children: Leah (Jerry) Vande Kamp of Melbourne, Howard (Pam) Eldridge, Jr. of State Center, Lyle (Linda) Eldridge of State Center, Kenneth (Marla) Eldridge of Marshalltown and Jennie (LaVern) Karsjen of Rhodes, a nephew whom she and Howard raised, Herb Henschel in Louisiana as well as 15 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, her sisters: Rhoda Walker of Vinton and Edna Langham of Des Moines as well as many nieces and nephews. In death, she rejoined her beloved Howard who died on January 20, 2006, her parents, brothers: Harvey, Eliza, August, Ralph and Vern and her great-grandson, Ryan Eldridge.
