Grace Hopkins

Grace Hopkins, 98, of Marshalltown, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2016, at Southridge Nursing and Rehab Center in Marshalltown, Iowa. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 24, 2016, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Marshalltown, Iowa. Grace Mabel Baer was born on July 5, 1918, in Dillon, Iowa; she was the daughter of William and Ollie (Lentz) Baer. Grace attended school in the Marshalltown Community School District graduating with the class of 1936. In 1938, Grace was united in marriage to Bruce Hopkins in Unionville, Missouri, they had lived in Marshalltown most of their lives. She had worked at Fisher Govenor and retired in 1981. Grace was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. She enjoyed traveling with her sisters and going to church conferences and activities and quilting. Left to cherish Graces memory are her children, Noreen (Bill) Polisson of Salem, Oregon, and Vicki (Dan) Benson of Port Washington, Wisconsin, grandchildren, Aaron (Kara Ross) Long of Rome, Oregon, Tracee (Michael) Franklin of Waxahachie, Texas, Ian (Kristen) Benson of Greendale Wisconsin, Nicholas (Jen) Benson of Port Washington, Wisconsin, Kathleen (Michael Wilkens) Benson of Port Washington, Wisconsin, and Victoria (Adam) Kiepert of Madison, Wisconsin, great- grandchildren, Dallas (Joanna) Franklin, Dakota Franklin, Hannah Klement, Joey Klement, Taylor Wilkens, Carson Wilkens, Lyla Ross-Long, Mina Benson, Tessa Benson and baby Benson on the way and one great-great- grandchild, Mia Franklin. In death Grace rejoins her parents, William and Ollie, husband, Bruce Hopkins, brothers; Fred, George and Frank Baer, sisters, Laura James, Lulu Baer, Helen Smith and Margaret Snyder.
