Greg Scott Oetker

Gregory Scott Oetker, 62, of Marshalltown, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2026 at UnityPoint- Marshalltown.

Memorial services for Greg will be held on Sunday, April 19, 2026 at 11:30 a.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. There will be a luncheon to follow at the American Legion Post #46 in Marshalltown, and a visitation will be held right before the service, starting at 10:00 a.m. Memorials may be directed to the family for designation at a later date. Greg Oetker was born on November 9, 1963 in Marshalltown, Iowa. He was the son of Merlin and Patricia (Hines) Oetker. Greg graduated from Green Mountain High School in 1982. He was united in marriage to Mary Koll at St Henry Catholic Church in 1988.

Greg had recently retired from Lennox Industries after working with the company for almost 42 years. Greg was a member of the UAW 893 in Marshalltown. He enjoyed fishing, talking politics and going on family get-a-ways to Okoboji. It was him and Mary’s “happy place”. Greg was a man who had a big heart. He was so sentimental and very thoughtful. He was the kind of person who never left love unspoken. he was always the first to say “I love you. And you never left without a big hug. The center of Greg’s world was his family. His wife, children, grandchildren, and friends were not just part of his life, they were his life. He cherished every moment spent with them, and his love for them was evident in everything he did. Greg never knew a stranger and could make a friend anywhere he went. Though words can never fully capture the depth of our loss, he will be missed more than words could ever be described.

Greg is survived by his wife of 38 years, Mary and their son: Zach (Krista) Oetker of Ankeny. Grandchildren: Tegan Monthei, Kayleb Monthei, Mason Monthei, Myla Oetker and Maverick Oetker. He is also survived by his brother: Jeff Oetker; brother and sister-in-law’s: Michael Koll, David Koll, Matthew Koll, Debbie Fuller and Donna Mitchell along with his aunt and uncle: Gretchen and Jim Hines along with numerous cousins and extended family.

Greg is preceded in death by his parents: Merlin and Patricia; mother and father-in-law: Bruce and Carolyn Koll; cousin: Trent Davis and his aunt and uncle: Bev and Ron Davis.
