Gregory Alan Stanley, 44, of Nevada, passed away on December 27, 2010, after courageously battling Diabetes, kidney failure and serious heart problems.Memorial services will be held January 3, 2011, 1:30pm at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Ph. 641-844-1234.Born September 10, 1966 in Iowa City, one of 8 children born to Howard and Bonnie (Chase) Stanley. Greg grew up in Marshalltown and attended Marshalltown High School, after which Greg worked for Jiffy Lube and Ammco Transmission repair, of Ames, and later became manager. Gregs courageous fight with Diabetes started at the early age of 19, his strong will and determination helped in his struggle to live a remarkable life. In Gregs free time you could find him fishing, throwing horseshoes, Frisbees, grilling, playing football or cheering on his ISU team with his dog Skippy by his side. Through his battles Greg always kept a positive outlook and touched many lives. Greg will be missed, filling our memories with knowing he will always be looking over us with complete strength and happiness.Left to cherish Gregs memory are his father Howard Stanley Sr. of Marshalltown, Carey Kenner, companion of 6years, two children: Cheyenne Stanley of Marshalltown and Alex Stanley of Marshalltown, one granddaughter: Olivia Versteg, two brothers and four sisters: Howard Stanley Jr of Florida, Steve Stanley of Chicago, Il, Helen (Dennis) Buchnan of Marshalltown, Julie Stanley of Marshalltown, Teresa (Terry) Hinegardner of Montour, and Amy (Brad) Meling of Marshalltown, a special niece: April Stanley (Chad Baker) and her children: Alianna Thompson of Iowa City, Courtny Stanley, Dallas Stanley, and Haylee Baker, also Skippy his beloved Jack Russell dog.Greg was preceded in death by his Mother Bonnie, an infant sister Pamela Sue Stanley, and his grandparents.
