Gregory 'Greg' Johnson

Gregory Greg K. Johnson, 61, of Laurel, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at the Iowa River Hospice Home, surrounded by loving family. Following Gregs wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and there will be no public services held at this time. Memorial contributions may be directed in Gregs name to his family. Gregory Kevin Johnson was born on May 12, 1956 in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Lester and Elsie (Ingledue) Johnson. He was raised and educated in the Marshalltown area. On December 23, 2016, Greg was united in marriage to Becky (Carlson) at their home. Greg was a hardworking man who spent many years with Kiowa as well as working as a mechanic, a job that he loved. He had a passion for racing, and most weekends could be found working on engines for many friends and family members. He was a familiar face at the Marshalltown Speedway until his health made it impossible for him to attend. His later hobbies came to be doing small projects with Becky, spending time with his grandkids, and watching his favorite TV show M.A.S.H. Left to cherish his memory is his wife Becky; children: Ryan Carlson, Steph (Rick) Johnson, Matt (Brianne) Johnson and Kevin (Alyssa) Johnson; grandchildren: Isabella, Dominic, Kayla, Lane, Blake, Mila, Maddy and Warren; his siblings Jan and Denny; several nieces and nephews and his cat, Cysco. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Kerry.
