Griffin Joseph Vander Ploeg

Griffin Joseph Vander Ploeg, infant son of Joshua and Laura (Patters) Vander Ploeg of Marshalltown, left this earth to His Heavenly Home on Friday, October 9, 2009, at the University of Iowa Childrens Hospital in Iowa City. Griffin died while being held in the arms of his loving mommy and surrounded by family. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 12, 2009, at Hope United Methodist Church in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 11, 2009, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Memorials may be directed to the family. Griffin was born August 31, 2009 at the University of Iowa Childrens Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. Griffin was a courageous little warrior with a big heart. He fought a 40 day battle before being sent to his Heavenly Home. He touched many lives in those 40 days and has left an impact on all those in his path. We are left to live the lessons he taught us. Left to cherish Griffins memory are his parents Joshua and Laura Vander Ploeg of Marshalltown ,brother: Cooper, his grandparents; Mary Jo and Ed Meyer of Dubuque, Donald Patters of Dubuque, Kit and Kathy Vander Ploeg of Monroe, Iowa and great- grandmother: Edith De Vries of Pella, along with several Aunts and Uncles and numerous cousins.
