Hae Dy, known as "Pu" to his family, was born on December 24, 1928 at the village of Tha Byay Chaung, Myaung Mya Territory, in Burma. He was the third child among five siblings, the son of Thar Hay Kyaw, and is the last of his siblings to pass from this world into the presence of the Lord. Hae Dy was of Karen nationality, one of the majority ethnic groups in Burma. He was raised under the British Colony and the terrifying and brutal rule of the Japanese occupation of Burma. Though Hae Dy was only educated through the 4th grade, due to family poverty and the unstable political issues in his country, he was a military commander during the Karen National Revolutionary Movement. He was injured in battle, and later became a Karen National Political leader. He was captured by the enemy and imprisoned for six months, then left the movement and lived as a refugee in Thailand from 1990, resettling to the United States in 2008. Hae Dy ministered as a Baptist Pastor in the Refugee Camp while in Thailand. He loved reading, writing, and was the perfect household leader. Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 65 years, Naw Paw; children Koe Koe, Say Hae Paw, Pa Po, Tae Sae Paw, and Moe Khae (of Thailand); grandchildren Byu Lah, Taw Koh, Beh Paw, Peter Thaung, Than Win, Lah Paw, Mee Htoo, Klay Law, Po Htoo, Gala Soe, and Wee Gay Htoo; great grandchildren: Aye May Paw, Paw Hsi, Hsar Moo Htoo, Hsar Moo Say, Glack Po, Glory Po, Lah Say Paw, and Jolly.
