Harold Lathrop, 73, of Marshalltown passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2014, at home surrounded by his loving family and cared for by Iowa River Hospice. A memorial gathering will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Monday, December 15, 2014, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. He was the son of Ed and Laura (Shilling) Lathrop. Harold attended school in the Des Moines School District. Harold lived and worked in the Marshalltown for the past 35 years. He was a handyman working construction and loved to work on cars. He enjoyed the casino and loved the older automobiles. Left to cherish his memory are his children: Tina(Tommy) Beerbower of Des Moines, Harold Jr. of Ft Dodge, Melissa(Russell) Allen of Des Moines, Jason Lathrop of Newton, and Zach, Isaac, Jacob, Jessica, and Gabrielle Lathrop, all of Marshalltown, Iowa; step-children: CeCe (Troy) Duff of Marshalltown, and Cortney(Robert) Gear of Cottage Grove, Minnesota; 17 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Siblings: Norma Wright, Eddie (Tammy) Lathrop, Dale Lathrop, Cheryl Lathrop, Debbie Myers and Kathy (Jay) Southward. In death, Harold rejoins his parents, Ed and Laura; sons: Harold Jr. and Todd Lathrop; and brother, Donald Lathrop and Brothers-in-law Kenny Myers and Jr. Wright.
