Harold Perry, 86, of Marshalltown, passed away on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Southridge Nursing and Rehab Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 1, 2016, at the Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the family to be designated at a later date. Harold LuVerne Perry was born on October 3, 1930, at home in State Center Iowa; he was the son of Newton and Margaret (Williams) Perry. He attended School in the Marshalltown Community School District. He served his country honorably in the National Gaurd during the Korean Conflict. On December 22, 1950, Harold was united in marriage to Elda Verlea Miller at the Church of Christ in Marshalltown, Iowa. They had lived in Marshalltown, moved to Toledo for 20 years and back to Marshalltown. Harold had worked at Fisher Control as a Tool Maker for 37 years retiring in 1986, and had the first Radio Shack in Marshalltown while also working for Fisher Control. He had been a devoted UAW member, Moose member and an Eagles member while in Toledo. He enjoyed leather work, camping, horseback riding, especially for the Pony Express Ride, bowling, and had always been a DIYer (Do it yourselfer), he also hard his pilots license and was a member of the local flying club. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 65 years, Elda; children, Larry (Carol) Perry of Marshalltown, Iowa, David Perry of Cherokee Village, Arkansas and Shari Lynn Schellar of Toledo, Iowa; grandchildren: Andy, Dan, Shane, Joseph and Erica, 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great- grandchild. In death Harold rejoins his parents, Newton and Margaret and brothers, Melvin and John and an infant son Thomas John.
