Harold "Red" Seeley

Harold “Red” Seeley, age 80 of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, under the care of Iowa River Hospice.

Per the wishes of Red and his family, cremation rites have been accorded under the care of Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Family-led services will take place on Saturday, March 22 at 1:00 P.M. at The Salvation Army of Marshalltown, 107 W. State Street. Friends and family are also invited to attend a family-led visitation on Friday, March 21 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., also at The Salvation Army. Harold was born April 29, 1944, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to parents Elmer and Dorothy (Jones) Seeley. He grew up in Marshalltown, where he attended school. Red was a “Jack of all trades,” using his wide variety of skills to hold several different jobs over his lifetime. He worked in janitorial care, construction, for the City Hall in South Padre, TX, as a line lead, and boss man at Gristmill and Ardens Food in MN. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and watching WWE wrestling. He was also a great cook, known best for his potato salad. Red was united in marriage to Susan (Elliott) Wilcox on July 22, 2024, at the log cabin at Riverview Park.

Left to cherish his memory include his wife, Susan; his children: Duane (Sheila) Seeley of CO, Lyonna (Darrin) Dunmire of TX, Karla (Larry) Novak of MN, Laverne (Darci) Swedin of FL, Jennifer Leefluer of TX and Jeffrey Wilcox of IA; his grandchildren: Skye and Noah Braget, Jessie and Shayla Swedin, and Samantha Leefluer, Darrin, Kevin, Amanda, Krista, Brandon and Stacy; his great grandchildren: Brooks Braget, Grayson Swedin, Elijah Seeley, Makia and 6 additional grandchildren; his sister Norma (Howard) Higgins of IA; and several brothers and sisters-in-law in MN.

Harold is preceded in death by his parents: Elmer and Dorothy and his dad, Robert “Bob” Hickson; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lavern and Lilian Schroder of Webster, MN; former spouses: Pamela Schroder of 45 years, and Cleta Seeley; his grandparents, Louis and Iona Jones of MN; several aunts and uncles; and sister-in-law Lori Kalal.
