Harriett (Ross) Sharp, age 92 of Inman, SC and formerly of Marshalltown, IA, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026 at her home in South Carolina.
Born Harriett Elaine Ross on May 4, 1933, the daughter of Howard Arnold and Jessie Iola (Lyman) Ross. She attended Tama County, Iowa rural schools and graduated from Toledo High School.
On April 5, 1953, Harriett was united in marriage with Leroy Hansel Sharp. From this union were five children: Cheryl, Anita, Michele, Theresa “Kathy”, and Troy. The couple later divorced in 1977.
Harriett joined the Seventh Day Adventist Church by baptism in June 1973. She held many church offices: SS teacher, pianist, SS superintendent, church clerk, SS secretary, communications, investment leader, member of the church board, and the Lord’s housekeeper.
Harriett had a wide variety of jobs including banking, doctor office, insurance agencies, hospital aide, restaurants, community college offices, cleaning homes, home health aide. She always managed to work and keep up with her children. In the chaos of having 5 children running around the home, sometimes Harriett would hear a crash which she would respond with “pick up the pieces”.
Harriett loved gardening flowers and vegetables, along with canning, freezing and making jams. She was a talented needle worker whether it was sewing, quilting or crocheting. Harriett was also handy; she never liked hiring work out, she preferred to do it herself.
In death, Harriett is reunited with her parents: Howard Arnold and Jessie Iola Ross; brother: Gerald Ross; beloved sister-in-law: Mary Ann (Ebersole) Ross; great granddaughters: Jade Aleka and Jasmie Melaani Kokichi-Miller; son-in-law, Vaughn Smith; and brother-in-law, Pat McCarroll.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Cheryl Kokichi, Anita Smith, Michele Purdy, and Theresa “Kathy” (Dennis) Bailey; son: Troy (Lori) Sharp; grandchildren: Michael Kokichi, Joshua Kokichi, Rachel (James) Burnley, Ashley (Erik) Johnson, Natalie Wagener, DJ Purdy, Kristen (Anthony) Howard, Jennifer (Xander) Upham, Jacob Sharp, Jessie Sharp, Raylinn Sharp, and Elizabeth Sharp. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Brandon and Tiana Kokichi, Brillian Qi-Bell, Ashlyn Foreman, Kaeden and Aislyn Kokichi, Brenna Williamson-Burnley, Katlynn Walker, Sebastian and Brynn Johnson, Cora Wagener, Ava Sharp, and Eli Sharp; great-great-grandchildren: Allayna Rembert and Nova Herman; and her sisters: Deanna McCarroll and Loretta (Edward) Kvapil.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Harriett will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo.
