Harry Curl

Harry Curl, Jr. 71, of Marshalltown, died Sunday morning, August 2nd, at the Iowa Veterans Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, August 7th, at the Iowa Veterans Home Chapel. He will be laid to rest in the Rose Hill Memorial Gardens with full military honors by the Harry C. Harter VFW Post #839. Visitation will be one-hour prior to the services at the IVH. Born on March 8, 1938, in Martell, Iowa, he was the son of Harry and Valda (Minnick), Sr. He attended schools in Northern Missouri and Southern Iowa. From 1956 to 1960, he served our country honorably in the United States Navy and was stationed upon the USS Columbus. On April 14th, 1961, he was united in marriage to Bonnie Adkins in LeGrand. They made their home in Marshalltown and rural State Center all of their lives where he was employed at Lennox, Gra-Iron, Swifts for 33 years and Totem Bowl for 25 years. Harry, or Junior to most people, enjoyed horses, horseback riding, John Deere Tractors, collecting model trains and eagles and gardening. He had attended the E-Free Church in Marshalltown and was a member of the UAW Retirees. Left to cherish his memory are Bonnie, his loving wife of 48 years, four children: Cindy Bills (Kevin Beye) of Marshalltown, Christine Neuroth of Marshalltown, Charla (Deano) Puccio of Melbourne and Jason (Sarah) Curl of Melbourne, 27 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, brother Richard Curl of Centerville and sister Carol Slifer of State Center as well as nieces, nephews and his IVH family. In death he has rejoined his parents, daughter Carla Curl, granddaughter Rebecca Lyn Bills, grandson Joshua Timothy Curl, sister Vera Brown and brother Donald Curl.
