Hazel M. Berglund

Hazel M. Berglund, 97, of Marshalltown, passed away early Thursday morning, February 18, 2021, at the Iowa River Hospice House. To be announced at a later date, a graveside service will be held at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Marshalltown with Reverend Tom Bower officiating. Hazel was born to Scott and Dora (Archer) Wise and raised in New Virginia, Iowa. She married Charles “Chuck” Berglund. After retiring from Marshalltown Community College, she volunteered with various local organizations. She is survived by her children: Nancy (Tom) Overman, Ginny (Sid) Wilkening and Barb (Dan) Lorenzo; two granddaughters, Melissa Overman and Allyson (Brandon) Heimark; four great grandchildren: Nolan, Abby, Jamison and Crosby Heimark; nephews and niece: John (Cindy) Wise and family, Pat Bertschinger and family, and Tom (Shelley) Wise and family. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers, Kenneth and Clarence Cullie. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the House of Compassion in Marshalltown.
