Helen D. Bryant, 94, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away peacefully on the morning of Sunday, February 5, 2017 at Iowa River Hospice Home with her loving family by her side. Funeral services for Helen will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Pastor Alex Post officiating. Public visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Following services, Helen will be laid to rest at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be directed in Helens name to Redeemer Lutheran Church or Iowa River Hospice. Schuler was born on February 13, 1922, in Rhodes, Iowa, the daughter of Wilbur and Amelia (Hennes) Schuler. She was raised and educated in the State Center school district, graduating from State Center High School in 1939 and attended Central Iowa Business College. Following high school, Helen honorably served her country by enlisting in the U.S. Naval Services from April 19, 1945 June 4, 1946. On April 11, 1947, Helen was united in marriage to the love of her life, Richard Bud Bryant in Easton, KS. From this union two children were born: Sheila and Randy. Helen was always a hardworking woman, dedicating many years at Marshalltown Instruments and J.C. Penneys. She was also a proud member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, VFW Ladies Auxiliary and The American Legion Auxiliary. A few of Helens greatest passions in life were playing cards, especially 500 with her friends and volunteering over 1500 hours at the Iowa Veterans Home. Left to cherish Helens memory are her children: Sheila (Mike) Ervin, and Randy (Mary) Bryant; grandchildren: Michele (Kevin) Rohde, Mark (Amy) Ervin and Chad Bryant (Kylie Price); great-grandchildren: Alyssa Rohde, Adam Rohde, Ethan Bryant, Connor Bryant, Madison Bryant and Tyler Bernstein; one sister: Elaine Gray; as well as many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband: Richard Bud Bryant; parents; 5 brothers and 3 sisters.
