Helen Crouse, 92, of Conrad, died Saturday, March 10th, at the Oakview Nursing Home where she has resided since January of this year. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 16th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown with Rev. Dale Batchler of the First United Methodist Church officiating. There will be a time of fellowship and refreshment immediately following in the hospitality room of the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in a private family service in the Conrad Cemetery. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Helen and her family. Ph 641-844-1234. Born Helen Winslow on December 13th, 1914, near Beaman, Iowa, she was daughter Clyde and Ada (Whorrall) Winslow. She had five siblings, two died shortly after birth. After graduating from the Grundy Center High School, she married Wayne Crouse of Conrad on December 14th, 1935. They lived and farmed north of Conrad for 34 years before moving to Conrad in 1974. Wayne died on December 22nd, 1976. On December 27th, 1977, she was united in marriage to Ray Crouse of Conrad. He passed away on December 19th, 1997. Helen was a member of the Conrad United Methodist Church and served on the UMW Committee. She also served on the Conrad Cemetery Society and Homemakers Club. Helen and Wayne had four children: twins- the late Ron (Elaine) Crouse of Marshalltown, Don (Elaine) Crouse of Dillon, Iowa, Stanley (Sharon) Crouse of Bonita Springs,FL, and Sharon (Toby) Brimmer of Marshalltown, ten grandchildren: Lowell Crouse, Lenny Crouse, Shawn Crouse, and Shelley Gilgen, Cary Crouse, Melissa Wencil, Robert Crouse, Ann Plowman,, Tim Brimmer, and Christine Rhinehart and 23 great-grandchildren. In death she has rejoined her husbands, son Ron, her parents, two sisters, one brother and a granddaughter, Robin Crouse.
