Helen Arlene Neith Haberstich, 87 of Marshalltown, passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2016 at Sunny View Care Center in Ankeny. Memorial services for Helen will be held on Friday, October 14, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. For more information or to send a condolence; please visit www.mitchellfh.com or call 641-844-1234. Helen Neith was born on May 20, 1929 in Waterloo to William and Jennie Mahanna Neith. She graduated from East High School and worked at Powers Manufacturing in Waterloo. Helen met the love of her life, Daniel Pat Haberstich and they were married on November 24, 1946 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They were married for 62 years. Together, they made their home in Waterloo, Des Moines and moved to Marshalltown in 1954. They started Iowa Step and Tank Company, operating the business for 20 years, selling the company in 1974. Helen was a member of the First United Church of Christ where she served as treasurer for many years and taught Sunday school and was a member of Lydia Circle. She enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, reading and doing crossword puzzles. Helen most enjoyed time with family and friends and especially her grandchildren. Left to celebrate her life are her daughters Linda (Richard) Randell of Iowa City and JoAnn (Glenn) Smith of Marshalltown. Grandchildren: John (Sarah Wall-Randell) Randell of Framingham, Massachusetts, Alex (Holly) Randell of Ankeny, Russell Smith of Platte City, Missouri and Emily (Scott) Spence of Ankeny. Great grandchildren: Graham Randell, Clayton Randell, Jocelyn Randell, Alice Schroeder, Lucas Spence, Julia Randell and Beatrice Randell. Also surviving are her sister Mary Lou (Donald) Wurtz and brother William Neith both of Waterloo and many nieces and nephews and her beloved pet Toby. Preceding Helen in death is her husband Daniel Pat who passed away in 2008, her parents William and Jennie and her sister Norma Cummings.
