Cora Helen Hurtt, 87, of the Iowa Veterans Home, died Monday, March 9, 2009. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 13th, 2009, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Albion Cemetery. Visitation will be held two-hours prior to the funeral services on Friday from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Cora Helen Rolph was born on January 3, 1922, in Lake City, Iowa. She was the daughter of Fred and Ethel (Stout) Rolph. Helen attended Eldora Community Schools. On July 8, 1939, she married Floyd Hurtt in Eldora. The couple lived together in the Eldora-Albion area. Helen later moved to Marshalltown and had lived at the IVH for the last 3 years.Helen worked at the meat locker-grocery store in Eldora and Albion. She was a member of the Hillside Church of Christ and the Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, quilting, and her family. She will be missed by her children, Barbara Trim of Chester, VA, Nancy Dole of Louisville, KY, Dixie(Gene) McKibben of Albion, and Kay Ann(Gary) Shirk of Marshalltown; her grandchildren, Tina Jo Owens, Traci Rankins, Scott Dole, Michael Dole, Kent McKibben, Terri Parrish, Jason Shirk, and Damie Niederhauser; her 26 great-grandchildren; and 3 special nieces and 3 special nephews. In death, Helen has rejoined her parents, her brothers, Harold Rolph and Dale Rolph, and her husband, Floyd Hurtt, who died in 1976.
