Helen (Reece) Reider

Helen (Reece) Reider of Marshalltown, died Friday, December 17, 2010 at Villa Del Sol Nursing Home.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 22, 2010, at Iowa River Church of the Brethren. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral home in Marshalltown. Memorials may be directed to Iowa River Hospice. Phone 641-844-1234.Helen Irene Moore was born on her grandfathers homestead in rural Clemons on June 22, 1915 to Ira and Lottie Moore. She attended Clemons Schools, graduating from Clemons High School in 1933. Helen married Floyd Reece and they lived in Clemons for several years before moving to a farm east of Marshalltown. To this union four children were born Joe, Joan, Jeanne and Judy. Floyd passed away in 1967. A few years after Floyd passed away, Helen married Lewis Reider. She and Louie moved to Marshalltown so she was much closer to her job in the womens clothing dept at J.C. Penneys. Helen worked there for more than 20 years. After retirement she and Louie moved to Las Vegas. Helen was widowed again in 1980, but she continued to live in Las Vegas where she was involved in an oil painting group and worked as a receptionist at their senior center and joined a Hawaiian ukulele group, playing for various functions including one engagement on The Strip. She was a lifetime member of the American Legion and the Iowa Farm Bureau. Helen moved back to Iowa and last resided in Villa Del Sol. She enjoyed Church services, Bible studies and music.Left to cherish Helens memory are her children: Joe(Sally) Reece of Clermont, Florida ,Joan(late Gary) Welton of rural Garwin, Jeanne (late James) Helleso of rural Garwin and Judith(David) Gusse of Dixon Ill, 9 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Ira and Lottie, both of her husbands Floyd and Louie, son-in-laws Gary Welton and James Helleso and grandson Tom Reece.
