Herminia Cota Urias

Herminia “Mina” Cota Urias, 81, of Marshalltown, passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at her home and under the loving and dedicated care of her daughter, granddaughter and the Iowa River Hospice Home.

Services for Herminia will be held on Monday, June 5, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at St Francis of Assisi-St Mary Church. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 4, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Memorials may be directed to the family. Herminia Cota was born on November 13, 1941 in Llano de los Sotos, El Fuerte Sinaloa, Mexico. She was the daughter to Canuto Cota and Isaura Urias. Herminia was married to Amado Soto Diaz. She was a stay at home Mom, and enjoyed gardening and helping raise her children and grandchildren. She would show “tough love” to them, but they meant the world to her.

Herminia is survived by her husband, Amado; children: Jesenia (Eric) Mendoza of Marshalltown, Joel (Belen) Soto of Marshalltown, Rosa Soto of Mexico and Fabiola Soto of Mexico. She is also survived by eight grandsons, two granddaughters, ten great-grandchildren and siblings: Lupita Cota, Virginia Cota, Rosaura Cota and Marta Cota. Herminia is preceded in death by her parents: Canuto and Isaura; son: Ramoncito; sisters: Elisa Cota and Rosario Cota along with brother: Leonardo Cota.
