Hilary Helms

Hilary Helms, 61, of 709 Fremont Street, Marshalltown, most recently of the Oakview Nursing Home in Conrad, died Friday, December 21st, at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 29th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with private interment at a later date. There will be no visitation. Born on May 23rd, 1946, in Middleton, England, she was the daughter of Reginald Frank and Hillary Waters. She was a high school graduate and attended college for one year. Hillary resided in England until age 18 and then moved to New York, residing there for 10 years. Ms. Helms was employed at the Central Iowa Art Association at the Fisher Center. She enjoyed her family, art, antiques, fishing and gardening. In 1981, she was united in marriage to Michael Helms and he preceded her in death. Surviving are her children, Paul (Suzie) Waters of Green Mountain, Christopher (Jasmine) McCalley of Beaman and Padro Pete McCalley of Marshalltown, grandchildren: Colin and Hunter McCalley, Josh and Katie Waters and Daniel Dudley, brother Doug Waters in England and sister Leslie (Bob) Lovig of Gilman, two nieces, two nephews and a host of friends. In death she has rejoined her parents, her husband and brother, Collin Waters.
