Hilda Dolly Mccoy

Hilda “Dolly” McCoy (Adair), 91, passed away on November 23, 2018 at Premier Estates of Toledo. A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home from 1-3:00 p.m. with a graveside service to follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Montour, Iowa.Memorial contributions may be made to the family or the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Dolly was born on October 22, 1927 to the parents of James and Selma (Bjordal) Adair in Detroit, Michigan.  In her early years she moved to Iowa and attended Montour High School. That is where she caught the eye of Darwin (Bud) McCoy.  They were united in marriage on May 25, 1946 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.  She attended the Iowa Teacher's College & taught country school before starting her family.  Dolly loved walking the sandbars at Leech Lake in Minnesota while the rest of her family enjoyed the family fishing trips. She would gather beautiful pieces of driftwood to bring back home. She would sand & stain each piece adding her special touch creating a beautiful wall hanging or a table centerpiece. Dolly also worked for Rose Hill Memorial Gardens making floral arrangements. Dolly kept busy keeping her farm home in tip top condition. She loved painting & wallpapering the old house.  She landscaped her yard with rocks she carried from the creek making steps and flower beds. Dolly lived her life in a faithful manner sharing the love of God with everyone.  She loved sharing about her grandkids.  She recorded their first words to be played back to anyone that she felt would enjoy hearing that special occasion. Dolly leaves behind her loving family and countless friends who will always remember her smile and the love she shared.  Left to cherish Dolly’s memory are her children; Bruce (Shelba) McCoy of Perrysville, Ohio, Monte (Julie) McCoy of Long Beach, Mississippi and Vicki (Rick) Hand, of Tama, her grandchildren; Paul (Patty), Heidi (Jess), Jeff, Mike, Nikki (Ben), Cory, Suzanne (Tim), Jessica (Bryce), Jordan, Wes (Maggie), and Matt (Lauren), her great-grandchildren; Derek, KayLynn, Aurora, Emily, Taylor, Rylee, Joseph, Lily, Brady, Luke, Benjamin, Sophie, Keagan and Lucas, Victoria, Jess Jr., Vivian, Luis, Yvonne, Camden, Jace, Korra, and Griffin, great-greatgrandchildren Jacob, Kyle, Izaiah, James, Jess, Daniel and Elaina, her brother-in-law Bob McCoy and her sister; Jackie Kaahuii of Maui, Hawaii.   She is preceded in death by her husband Bud McCoy, her parents James and Selma, son Darryl, grandchild Tonia Jo and many aunts and uncles.
