Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for Homer and his family. Homer Mogard was born on November 15, 1930, in Revillo, South Dakota, the son of John and Lena (Hoem) Mogard. He attended school up through the 8th grade which was very common at that time. On September 17, 1950, Homer was united in marriage to Jane Kruger at the Antelope Valley Reformed Church in Marietta, Minnesota. From this union four sons were born: Kevin, Kent, Kraig and Kurt. Homer was a very hard-working man who spent many years as a construction craftsman. After being employed by several local building companies, he went into business for himself. Many homes and establishments in Marshalltown bear the mark of his talents. His many passions in life included the following: inventing everyday usable home improvement items, performing community service using his woodworking abilities, eating out every Saturday night, spending time with his family and grandchildren, and taking Jane on special trips to Branson, Missouri. Left to cherish Homer's life is his wife Jane Mogard; children Kevin (Connie) Mogard, Kent (Sue) Mogard, Kraig Mogard, and Kurt (Carol) Mogard; grandchildren Jill (Andy) Paullus, Mike (Emily) Mogard, Kim Rokos (boyfriend Matt), Kelly (George) Kirkpatrick, Lance (Diane) Mogard and Lindsay Mogard; great-grandchildren Jaida and Trace Paullus, Miah, Jaimon, Calla and Zion Mogard, Kylie and Kennedy Kirkpatrick, Gia and Luca Mogard; and sibling Clayton (Nyla) Mogard. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Lena Mogard, brothers Orville and John Jr. Mogard, sisters Pearl Johnson and Mollie Rankin, and half-brother John Hammer.
