Howard Wendell Cory, 92, formerly of Clemons, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2011 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown.Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 14, 2011 at the Marietta Cemetery. Ph. 641-844-1234Howard Wendell Cory was born August 2, 1918 in Hartland, IA to George and Hazel Emma (Tucker) Cory. He attended school at the Marietta rural school. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1942. He returned to the Clemons/St. Anthony area where he farmed and sheared sheep his entire life. He enjoyed antique farm equipment, horses, mules, and unusual breeds of rabbits, poultry, sheep, and goats. He enjoyed sharing his animal collections with 4-H and FFA clubs at county and state fairs. He traveled many miles to attend antique power shows, fairs, and flea markets. He will be remembered for his collection of stuff. He entered the Iowa Veterans Home in 2004 where he remained until his death Sunday, July 10, 2011.He is survived by two sisters: Evelyn (James) Sparks of Nevada, and Arlene (Bud) Engle of Conrad; one nephew: Gary (Dian) Engle of rural Marshalltown; four nieces: Julie (John) McNair of Conrad, Nancy (Steve) Smith of Guthrie Center, Marcia (Neal) Hadden of Oskaloosa, and Sharon (Jan) Johnson of Nevada; ten great nephews; eleven great nieces; many great-great nieces and nephews.He is proceded in death by his parents, his nephew Ronald, his niece Linda, and his great-great nephew
