Howard Lindaman

March 10, 1947 — October 27, 2019

Howard Lindaman, 72, of Marshalltown, Iowa entered into eternal life surrounded by his loving wife and family on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at the Iowa River Hospice Home.  A memorial service for Howard will be held on Friday, November 1, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Journey Church in Marshalltown with Pastor Jacob Rahrig officiating. A public visitation for Howard will be held for family and friends one hour before the beginning of the memorial service. Private family graveside services will be held at a later date. Mitchell Funeral Home is caring for Howard and his family.  Howard Lee Lindaman was born in Aplington, IA on March 10th, 1947 to Ivan and Amelia Faye Lindaman.  He grew up on his family’s farm outside of Aplington raising cattle, sheep, chickens, geese, and rabbits. Howard enjoyed his childhood on the farm, sharing in chores and adventures with his four siblings and nearby cousins.  After graduating from Aplington High School in 1965, he went on to study at Iowa State University, completing his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1971. Howard began work as a large animal veterinarian in Bagley, IA. During this time, he was set up on a blind date with Cynthia Williams, whom he married in 1972.  In 1973, Howard and Cynthia moved to Albia, Iowa, where he eventually partnered with Dr. Dean Stocker to open Albia Animal Clinic. In 1975 their son, Brent Lee, was born and in 1978, their daughter Laura Anne. Over the course of his 26 years in Albia, Howard was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church, a 4-H leader for 20 years, and a member of the Monroe County Cattleman’s Association.    In 1999, Howard relocated to Marshalltown, IA, where he became a Federal Meat Inspector for the USDA, until his retirement in 2013.  In his retirement, Howard began raising Polypay sheep and served on the Iowa Sheep Industry Association Board, as well as the ISU College of Veterinary Medicine Iowa Livestock Health Advisory Council.  He enjoyed life in the country with Cynthia, raising lambs, fishing, and spending time with his 3 grandchildren, Cole (14), Paige (11), & Riley (9).  Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Cynthia; his children Laura (Ryan) Wilson and Brent (Sarah) Lindaman; his grandchildren Cole and Paige Wilson and Riley Lindaman; his siblings Kathleen (Bob) Dye, Bruce (Wanda) Lindaman, Karen (Carroll) Kienol, June (Gaylen) Harken.  Howard accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at 12 years of age.  He was preceded in death by his parents.
