Howard Stubbs, 81, of Green Mountain, died early Wednesday morning, December 17th, at the Grandview Heights in Marshalltown while in their care, his loving family and the Iowa River Hospice. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 20th, at the Green Mountain United Church of Christ with Pastor Kim Wilson officatiing. He will be laid to rest in the Green Mountain Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. Friday at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Ph 641-844-1234. Born on June 5th, 1927, in Marion Township, Marshall County, Iowa, he was the son of Ralph and Ada (Keese) Stubbs. He graduated from the Green Mountain High Schools Class of 1945 and soon enlisted in the United States Navy. On June 28th, 1953, he was united in marriage to Marjorie Rosfjord at the LeGrand Friends Church in LeGrand. They made their home on the farm near Green Mountain. Mr. Stubbs was a member of the Green Mountain UCC, the Green Mountain Lions Club, past member of the Masonic Lodge in LeGrand, served on the Green Mountain School Board and the church board, drove bus for seven years at GMG and enjoyed woodworking, refinishing furniture, football and basketball games- especially any events with his grandchildren, teaching the school kids at Green Mountain about milling corn, telling jokes and treasured his family. Left to treasure his memory are Marjorie, his loving wife of 55 years, son Daniel (Michelle) Stubbs of Green Mountain, daughter Joni (Kevyn) Zacharias of Conrad, four grandchildren: Brent, Blake, Kristina and Danielle, two great-grandchildren: Xander and Dane, his sister Bertha McWilliams of the Oakview Nursing Home in Conrad and brother Leonard Stubbs of Marshalltown. In death he has rejoined his parents, sisters Marie Hulbert and Dorothy Feske and brother Homer Stubbs.
