Hyla Gale, 60, of Marshalltown, died early Monday, April 12, 2010, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 16, 2010, at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Hylas wishes were to have her body cremated. She was the daughter of Wayne and Carol (Lovelace) Hemmen. She attended school in Webster City. On January 8, 1966, Hyla married Robert Gale in Bethel, Missouri. The couple lived in Webster City, Clarion, Garwin, and then moved to Marshalltown in 1978. Hy was a homemaker during her marriage. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, crafts, drawing, and painting. Hy will be missed by her husband of over 44 years, Robert of Marshalltown; her three children Laura Gale of Atkins, Rod (Karen) Gale of Marshalltown, and Teresa Andrews of Marshalltown; her three grandchildren Trevor Andrews, Theron Gale, and Sydni Gale, all of Marshalltown; her parents Wayne and Carol Hemmen of Webster City; her sister Carla (Doug) Youngdale of Webster City; her brother Harley (Kayte) Hemmen of Cedar Falls; and one niece and two nephews. In death she has rejoined her nephew Troy Youngdale and two special pets, Shadow and Casey.
