Ida (Grady) Griffith, 85, of State Center passed away Friday, January 28, 2011 at State Center Nursing and Rehab surrounded by her family, while under the care of Iowa River Hospice.Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at St Josephs Catholic Church in State Center, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 31, 2011 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in State Center. Memorials may be directed to Iowa River Hospice. Phone 641-844-1234.Ida Frances Mensen was born on January 18, 1926 in Adrian, Minnesota to Andrew and Rose (Suedbeck) Mensen. She attended school in Greeley, Iowa and graduated from Greeley High School in 1944. Ida married Blaine Grady on June 21, 1947 in Waterloo, Iowa. She had lived in Jesup Iowa and in the Marshalltown area most of her life. Blaine and Ida had owned and operated Grady Service Center a John Deere dealership in Jesup, Iowa until Blaine passed in 1976. Ida later married Edward Griffith. Ida was a member of St Josephs Catholic Church and CCW in State Center, Iowa. She loved to quilt and sew, but most of all she enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ida will be remembered for her good sense of humor and quick wit.Left to cherish her memory are her children: Mark(Patty) Grady of Tucson, Arizona, Joan (Mike) Houser of Asheville, North Carolina and Janice(Ralph) Roloff of State Center, Iowa ,7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, her siblings: Louise Beohm of Council Bluffs, Rita(Fritz) Dougherty of Dubuque, Iowa and Alyce Westoff of Florida.Ida was preceded in death by her parents: Andrew and Rose, her husband Blaine and daughter Jane, 5 sisters and 2 brothers.
