Ida Usken

Ida Usken, 92, of Colo, Iowa, formerly of Rose Creek, MN, died Saturday morning, August 29th, at her daughter and son-in-laws home in rural Colo where she has resided the past 4 years. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 3rd, at the Elim Lutheran Church in Marshalltown with Pastor Karen Cluts officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be held one-hour prior to the services at the church. Memorials may be directed to Elim Lutheran Church. Born on December 29th, 1916, in Marshall County, she was the daughter of Oscar and Borghild (Haugen) Selvig. All at the Elim Lutheran Church in Marshalltown, Ida was baptized, confirmed and later married in 1934 to George Usken. The couple farmed in Marshall County until moving to their farm at Rose Creek, MN. Four children survive: Berlyn (Bev) Usken of Las Vegas, NV, Betty (Jim) Hartwig of Colo, Gary (Laurie) Usken of Ft. Collins, CO. and Roxanne (Norman) Young of Hayfield, MN. Four grandsons: Doug Hartwig, Grant Usken, Trevor Usken and Brett Young, granddaughter Kimberly Young Jorgensen, two great-grandchildren: Abigail and Alex Jorgensen, brothers-in-law Ralph Anderson and Herb Dickkut and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1978, grandsons Craig in 1979 and Eric Young in infancy, two sisters and two brothers: Lester and Milo Selvig and Bernice Dickkut and Thelma Anderson.
