Inez Black, 97, of Marshalltown, died Tuesday night, April 19th, at the Southridge Nursing and Rehab Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 25th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest in the Elmwood Cemetery at Lamoille. Born Inez Kathleen Strom on November 16, 1913, in Randolph, Nebraska, she was the daughter of Emil and Ann Marie (Sorenson) Strom. She graduated from Norfolk High School in 1930 and later she taught school until 1935, when she married Earl Black. The Blacks farmed at McLean, Nebraska before moving to Marshalltown, Iowa, in 1940. Inez moved off of the farm in 1998 into Marshalltown. Mrs. Black professed her faith in 1925 in Lynch, Nebraska, and accredited the two most important things in her life were the revelation of truth in her preteen years and the children her Heavenly Father had given her. After Earls sudden passing in 1958, she went back to school in Cedar Falls and then taught schoolin Albionfrom 1964 until 1979. She was able to visit her grandparents native countries in Scandinavia. She also loved farming, conservation, cooking, gardening, sewing, music and genealogy. Mrs. Black is survived by her daughter-in-law, Ann Black, her children, Harry (Carol) Black, Joy (Richard) Vybiral and nephew, Paul (Carolyn) Sickman; grandchildren, Tammarie Anderson, Nathan Black, Sara Blakemore, Heather Wicks, Chris Black, Matthew Vybiral, Amy Vybiral and great grandchildren, Arianna, Josh, Ty, Dylan, Mason, Arden, Sawyer, Zayne, Elijah, Elliana, Anthony, Kylie, Parker, Reagan, Wyatt, Owen and great niece, Elana. She was preceded in death by her husband Earl, parents Emil and Marie Strom, son Donald Earl and two sisters, Marian Strom and Elda Sickman, as well as many relatives and friends.
