Ira Lindberg Clemens, 85, of Marshalltown, Iowa, died on Monday, April 8, 2013, at his home in Des Moines, Iowa, where he has resided for over 40 years. Public Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. at Mitchell Family Funeral Home where Iras family will be present to greet friends. Memorial contributions may be directed in Iras name to his family. The Mitchell Family Funeral Home is taking care of Ira and his family. Ira Lindberg Lindy Clemens was born on January 27, 1928, the son of Oren and Bernice (Foulk) Clemens. Ira was also known as Lindy in Marshalltown and Clem in the Des Moines area. Ira joined the army early on in life. He was part of two different wars in his time. Ira was part of World War II receiving the Army Of Occupation Medal and World War II Victory Medal. He was also in the Korean War as a Marksman receiving the Korean Service Medal with five battle stars and Korean Unit Citation. After the service, Iras first job was back in Marshalltown working at Winters Dairy. He also worked at Flynns in Des Moines, Iowa. Ira was an avid Harley rider and also enjoyed playing on his computer and video games. Ira is survived by his sister: Ethel Holland; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; five brothers: Myran, Phillip, Ray, Oren Jr. and one still born.
