Irene Weatherly Hoskey, 91, of Marshalltown passed away Saturday, June 16, 2012.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Phone 641-844-1234.Irene Pauline Weatherly was born on November 21, 1920 in Marshall County; she was the daughter of Leonard and Ruby (Koch) Weatherly. She attended school in Tama, Iowa, graduating with the class of 1938. In 1939 Irene was united in marriage to Lawrence Hoskey. They had farmed in the Le Grand area for 36 years, then moving to Marshalltown due to Lawrences health problems. Irene had worked at Marshalltown Manufacturing for 4 years and was The Fashion Lady at both the Tempo Store and the Half Size Store. Irene had been a memberof the First United Methodist Church in Marshalltown.She had also been a volunteer at MMSC. Irene enjoyed crocheting afghans for her loved ones and many friends, she also liked to play cards, bingo, dominos, seeing the robins and deer, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her children and her grandchildren and watching her granddaughters play softball.Irene had lived the last several years at Bickford Cottage where she made many friends. The staff at Bickford was very special to her.Left to cherish her memory are her children; Judy (Bruce) Williams of Marshalltown and Jary (Connie) Hoskey of Marshalltown, her granddaughters: Kaci, Kylee and Kodie who she loved and enjoyed so very much and her sister Mary Ann Hall of Marshalltown.Irene was preceded in death by her parents; Leonard and Ruby, her husband, Lawrence, her sisters; Marjorie Paul and Helen McDowell and her only grandson Shawn Williams in 1977.
