Irene Polley, 86, of Marshalltown, rejoined her Lord and Savior on the afternoon of Sunday, July 24th, at the Taylor House in Des Moines. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 30th, at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from noon until the service time at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Born Irene Pearl Deschamp on August 4th, 1929, in Marshalltown, she was the daughter of Francis Willard and Pearl (Howard) Deschamp. On May 1st, 1947, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Charles Polley, at the Eldora First Baptist Church. They made their home in many different communities in Iowa including- Marshalltown, Eldora, LeGrand and Ankeny, while Charlie was working for the Postal service. They retired in 1989 and moved to Marshalltown. Irene was a faithful member of the Center Street Baptist Church and had served on the missions committee and church pianist. Irene treasured her family and enjoyed reading, cooking, church activities, sewing, playing piano and her pets. Left to cherish her memory is her children: David C. (Lee) of Norwalk, IA; Steve D. of Tulsa, OK; Marlene Mirian of West Des Moines, as well as seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, her daughter-in-law Sandy (Robert) Polley Mullen of Marshalltown and many friends. In death, Irene rejoined her husband Charlie who passed in 2010, her parents, her son Bob who died in January of 2013, a sister Dorothy Bartholomew, and daughter-in-law Chris Polley.
