Irma Dostal

Irma Dostal, 93, of Marshalltown and formerly of Montour, Iowa, went to be with her Lord and Savior on the morning of March 25, 2020. A private family graveside service will be held for Irma. Memorial’s in Irma’s name may be directed to Center Street Baptist Church or Care Initiatives Hospice. Irma Jean O’Connor was born May 22, 1926 to LeRoy and Flossie (Thompson) O’Connor in Toledo, Iowa. Irma grew up in the Tama/Toledo area on the O’Connor family farm and was the oldest child born to the family. On December 27, 1945, Irma was united in marriage to her husband Robert “Bob” Dostal in Tama, Iowa. The two began a family of their own raising two children together. They resided in Montour until 1964 when the two moved to Marshalltown. Irma worked for the telephone company as well as owning the local drug store in Montour. Upon moving to Marshalltown, she worked for Downing Hardware for a number of years. Her biggest and most important job was being a mother and caring for her family. In her free time, Irma was a member of the Eagles in Tama, the Moose Lodge of Marshalltown, and Center Street Baptist Church in Marshalltown. She was a seamstress, enjoyed polka dancing with her husband, attending church activities and the Eagles Woman’s Auxiliary. She also enjoyed a good game of pepper and up and down the river. Left to remember and cherish her memory are her children Bob (Kathy) Dostal and Ron (Connie) Dostal; her grandchildren; Steve (Marla) Dostal, Jeff (Karla) Dostal, Heather (Andy) Flint, and Ryan (Sandra) Dostal; her great grandchildren Kelani Dostal, Quinn Dostal, Jace Dostal, Kean Dostal, Grayden Flint, Marley Flint, Ashton Flint, Kennedy Dostal, and Levi Dostal; her great-great granddaughter, Sophia Dostal; and her nieces Robin Crawford and Sandra Fowler. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob Dostal; parents LeRoy and Flossie O’Connor; and her sister Wanda Boyer.
