Isacc Mauricio was born on October 26, 2006 in Marshalltown. Yoan Adrian was born on June 22, 2009 in Des Moines. They were the two oldest sons of Joanna Lara-Mendoza and Yoan Mauricio Lara-Moreno and big brothers to Jordan Lara-Mendoza; as well as grandsons, nephews, cousins and friends.

Isacc was a sophomore at Marshalltown High School. He was an excellent student, fluent in both English and Spanish and a member of Trio and the Honor Society. He was an amazingly talented soccer player, playing year-round for multiple leagues, including the Marshalltown YMCA, MASC (Marshalltown Area Soccer Club), MCC and indoor in Des Moines. Isacc always kept very busy: working out at the gym, hanging out with his friends and his girlfriend, Yanitza Lopez, and working as a cook at Zeno’s. He was so responsible and managed his busy schedule well. When he was home, he could spend hours cleaning and detailing his car and cuddling his dog, Lilly. He spent so much time with his little brothers and never missed a chance to ask his mom how he could help. He loved his massive collection of shoes and listening to music. Isacc wanted to become an electrical engineer someday.

Adrian was an eighth grader at Miller Middle School. He looked up to his big brother in so many ways – he wanted to be just like Isacc. He was counting down the days until he could get his permit and get a job. When they were young especially, they liked to dress alike and always had the same haircut. Adrian loved to tag along with Isacc. He may have been the younger brother, but he was the tallest in the family. He was so caring and quick to stand up for other kids. Adrian also loved soccer at the Y and MASC, was a member of Trio and an excellent student. He hoped to someday be an aerospace engineer. He was very helpful at home: laundry, cleaning, cooking, even babysitting his cousins. He liked to keep things neat and tidy, his room was always spotless. He also didn’t mind cleaning Isacc’s shoes (which he would borrow) whenever he was asked. Adrian enjoyed spending time at home, often alone listening to music and snuggling his dog, Lilly. He also loved spending time with his family and especially enjoyed cruising with his grandpa.

Both boys were smart, incredibly kind and talented. They will forever leave an impression on their family, their friends, classmates and the entire Marshalltown Community. They will be deeply missed.

Left to cherish their memory are their parents: Joanna and Yoan; their little brother, Jordan; his grandfathers: Obed Mendoza and Alex Santos; aunts and uncles: Brenda Mendoza, Ivan Santos-Moreno and Jacqueline Tellez; cousins: Noe Baeza-Mendoza, Isaiah Baeza-Mendoza, Ehyris Halsted, He

nry Halsted, Emina Atajic and numerous other cousins; great-grandfather, Jesus Corpus; and many, many friends.

In eternal life, the two are reunited with their grandmothers: Irma Corpus de Mendoza and Consuelo Moreno; great-grandmothers: Anastacia Vasquez-Corpus, Ernestina Mendoza and Aurora Mendoza; and great-grandfather, Mario Mendoza.
