Jack was born on March 19, 1927 in Lovilia, Iowa, to the proud parents of John and Cornelia (Nicholson) Dack. Jack was involved in many sports growing up, but he mostly enjoyed football. Jack honorably served his country by enlisting in the United States Navy during the Second World War. Jack was soon to find himself courting the young Twilla Worrall. The two would be married on June 6, 1948. Jack attended the University of Iowa and graduated in 1953 with a BA in Medical Therapy. Jack was a proud member of the American Legion, American Vets, and the 40 and 8 Club. Jack was most known for being the Commandant of the Iowa Veterans Home for over 33 years. In his time at the Veterans Home he never met a stranger. Jack was forever memorialized by having a building named after him at the Veterans Home. When he had free time he could always be found fishing with his good friend, Dr. Dean Baker. To cherish Jacks memory are his wife of 68 years, Twilla; son, Robert; grandson, Shane; great-granddaughter, Balee Grace; and sister, Beverly Williams. Jack is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Ronald, Donald, and Marjorie.
