Waiburne Jack Jennings, 80, of Marshalltown, died Sunday, July 12th, 2009, at MMSC. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 18th 2009, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be Friday from 5:30 to 7:30 at the funeral home in Marshalltown. Phone 641-844-1234. Jack was born on November 6th, 1928, in Marshalltown, to Ernest and Naomi (Lackey) Jennings. He attended Marshalltown schools, graduating in 1946. Jack married Colleen Powers on February 6th, 1948, in Marshalltown. They had lived in rural Marshalltown their entire married lives. Jack retired from the Marshall County Secondary Road Department after 42 years in which he had become the Superintendent. Jack had been in the singing group The Missionaires for 40-plus years, was a member of the Marshalltown Mens chorus, and had sung some Barbershop over the years. Jack enjoyed raising Appaloosa horses and had been a Mounted Police at the Iowa State Fair. Jack had also been the race track manager at the Marshalltown Speedway and he enjoyed camping with his wife and friends in campgrounds all over the country. Left to cherish Jacks memory is his wife Colleen; his sons, Jack(Deb)Jennings of Houston, Texas, Tim(Barb) Jennings, and Rex(Kris) Jennings, both of Marshalltown; Jacks grandchildren, Darci, Jeff, Stacy, Austin, Shane, Ashley, and Ryan; his great-grandchild, Hope; and also nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jack was preceded in death by his brother Terry Jennings and a brother in infancy.
