Jack Clifford Walker, 90 a beloved husband, dad, and grandpa of Marshalltown, passed away on Monday, February 9, 2026 at Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown.

Jack Clifford Walker was born on July 11, 1935 in Burlington, IA, the son of Rollie E. and Circe (Allen) Walker. He grew up on a family farm around Batavia, IA, where cattle, sheep, and horses were a part of his daily lifestyle. In 1952, he won the Iowa State Fair calf scramble which qualified his for the International Livestock Expo in Chicago, IL. Jack graduated from Agency High School in 1953 where he participated in basketball and baseball.

Jack met his high school sweetheart, Marcia Karen Megrath, and later was united in marriage on July 11, 1958 in Agency, IA.

Jack enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country from 1958 to 1960, stationed in Korea. After Jack’s honorable discharge, he continued his work in the cattle market.

He started buying livestock for Morrell and Company in Ottumwa, IA, and proceeded on to buy cattle for 40 plus years for Iowa Beef Processors (IBP), now known as Tyson Food, in Marshalltown. Jack also farmed, raised, and fed cattle in rural Marshalltown, and was an auctioneer on the side.

Upon moving to Marshalltown, Jack and Marcia became involved with showing horses along with their children and became active members and board members of the Tallcorn Trailriders, Iowa Quarter Horse Association, and the American Quarter Horse Association, where he served as a National Director for the State of Iowa.

Jack was active in the Marshalltown Community over the years. He was honored to be the parade marshal for the 1971 Central Iowa Fair, serve on the Marshalltown Community School Board in 1978, and most recently served on the Marshalltown Senior Citizens Board.

Even in retirement, Jack stayed active, working part-time at Marshalltown Compost. While residing at the Embers of Marshalltown he enjoyed playing his weekly card and bag games and loved spending time outdoors - especially fishing and camping. He adored his grandchildren and enjoyed his time spent with them and attending all their activities.

In death, Jack is reunited with his wife, Marcia; infant son, Timothy; his parents: Rollie and Circe; and brothers: Russ, Sherman, Milford and Wayne.

Left to cherish his memory are his children: Denise (Rick) Hanke of Marshalltown and Jack (Kay) Walker Jr of Sheldon, IA; grandchildren: Tyler (Gerogia) Walker of Sheldon, Morgan Walker of Ankeny, Trent (Nicole) Hanke of Haverhill, and Colton (Hailee) Hanke of Marshalltown; great-grandchildren: Quinn and Jack Walker, and a baby girl Hanke expected soon. He is also survived by close friends Muriel Jansen and Jolene McIlrath and their families.

Per Jack’s wishes, cremation rites will take place. Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Marshalltown, with military honors conducted by combined V.F.W./American Legion of the surrounding area. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Iowa River Hospice or Marshalltown Senior Citizens Center.
