James Jim Anderson 56, of Laurel, Iowa passed away on October 11, 2014, at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa after a tragic car accident. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 16, 2014, at the Laurel United Methodist Church in Laurel, Iowa. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 15, 2014, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Casual dress will be appreciated on both occasions. James Arthur Anderson was born on February 13, 1958, in Marshalltown, Iowa; he was the son of Joel and Ruth Ann (Jay) Anderson. Jim attended SEMCO Community School, graduating with the class of 1976. He then attended Hawkeye Tech studying Diesel Mechanics. On September 2, 1978, Jim was united in marriage to Janice Ingraham at the Laurel United Methodist Church in Laurel, Iowa. Jim had been employed with Alliant Energy of Marshalltown, and on October 1 of this year celebrated his 24th year. Jim was a member of the Laurel United Methodist Church, loved sports, college basketball, especially the CYCLONES, loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, gardening, traveling, NASCAR and was a doting grandparent and loved his family. Jim will be remembered as a kind, generous and likable person. Left to cherish Jims memory are: his wife of 36 years, Jan; children, Erin Anderson of LeGrand and Nicholas (Laura) Anderson of New Sharon and his precious grandchildren, Audriana Ruth (4) and Wyatt James (15 months). Siblings: Steve (Nanci) Anderson of Tehachapi, California; Joelene (Dale) Helling of West Des Moines; Mark Anderson of Waukee; Jane (Ron) Alston of Rochester, Minnesota, Carol (Rusty) Hibbs of Conrad and Teresa (Mark) Kennedy of Omaha. In death Jim rejoins his parents, Ruth Ann and Joel, mother-in-law Ruth Ingraham, father-in law Gene Ingraham, sister-in-law Sandra Tapper and nephew Derek Tapper
