James Ankrum

James Ankrum, age 92, of Marshalltown, passed away on the morning of Thursday, September 1st, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown.

Graveside services for James will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the Iowa Veterans Home Cemetery in Marshalltown. Memorials may be directed to the Iowa Veterans Home. Born on November 21st, 1929, in Marshalltown, he was the son of Ernest and Selma (Torrisdahl) Ankrum. He graduated from the Marshalltown High School in 1947 and attended Luther College. He served our country honorably in the United States Army in the Korean War. James returned to his hometown and was employed in newspaper delivery and furniture refinishing. He enjoyed collecting bottles.

James was the last of his generation- coming from a family of two sisters and his brother. He will be fondly remembered by his family at the Iowa Veterans Home and the Bret Battles family who so lovingly was adopted by James.
