James Jimmy Barker, 79, of Clearwater, Florida, formerly of Marshalltown, died Saturday morning, June 16th, at his home in Clearwater while in care of hospice. Memorial services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 20th, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home with Major Abe Tamayo of the Salvation Army officiating. Born on October 17th, 1928, he was the son of Clifford and Florence Barker. He received his education in Marshalltown and served our country honorably in the United States Navy. On January 2nd, 1949, he was united in marriage to Audrey Hill at the First United Methodist Church in Marshalltown. Mr. Barker retired after 28 years as an officer of the Salvation Army- Development Director for two divisions- and was Kansas City Fire Department Chaplain for 10 years. Jimmie was a member of the Lions and Kiwanis clubs. Left to celebrate his life are his loving wife of 58 years, Audrey, two daughters: Lynnette Seehausen of Shawnee, Kansas and Nancy Moffitt of Kokomo, Indiana, grandchildren: Jamie, Shawna, Brandon, six great-grandchildren, his brothers: Philip (Rose) Barker and Danny (Diane) Barker of Marshalltown, sister Linda (Dave) Carmody of Marshalltown and several nieces and nephews. In death he has rejoined his parents Clifford and Florence and brother, Donald T. Barker.
