James F Blazek

James Frank Blazek, 84, of Johnston, passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston.   Memorial services for James will be held on Monday, February 18, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown with visitation to start one hour prior at 9:00 a.m. Memorials may be directed to the family. Mitchell Family Funeral Home is caring for James and his family.   James F Blazek was born on July 22, 1934 in Tama County, Iowa to Frank and Elizabeth Loverin Blazek. He graduated from St Mary’s High School in Marshalltown. After high school, Jim served his country honorably in the United States Navy. On September 21, 1955, Jim was united in marriage to Mary Anne Heil in Marshalltown. Jim had worked for the Marshalltown Fire Department, Iowa Veterans Home and Central Iowa Recycling and was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Moose Lodge. Jim enjoyed dancing, woodworking and his corvettes.   Jim is survived by his children: Robert (Julie) Blazek of Venice, Florida, Suzanne (Ronald) Albertsen of Louisville, Kentucky, Lori (Andrew) O’Donnell of Concord, California, Michael (Susanne) Blazek of Georgetown, Texas and Steven (Jeannie) Blazek of Denver, Colorado. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren (soon to be fifteen) and his brother Chuck Blazek.   Jim is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Anne, parents, Frank and Elizabeth and twin brother Joseph.
