James Dankbar

James Dankbar (68), of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away under the care of Iowa River Hospice, at the Marshalltown Medical Surgical Center on August, 6th, 2015. Visitation will be held at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home on Sunday, August 9th, 2015, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, followed by a vigil and rosary. Services will be held on Monday, August 10th, 2015, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Marys Catholic Church. Memorials may be directed to the family to be designated at a later date. For questions or to send a condolence, call 641-844-1234, or visit www.mitchellfh.com James Joseph Dankbar was born to Anthony and Zelda (Croker) Dankbar on June, 20th, 1947, at St. Thomas Hospital in Marshalltown, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Marshalltown, graduating with the class of 1965. Jim served his country in the United States Army from 1969 until 1971. On June, 22, 1974, he and Sue Ann Curry were united in marriage at St. Marys Catholic Church in Marshalltown. James was an employee of Marshalltown Manufacturing and Lennox until his retirement in 1999. He was a member of the Eagles club in Tama/Toledo, and the Marshalltown bowling league. Jim enjoyed bowling, pool, hunting and fishing. Left to cherish his memory is his wife; Sue Ann (Curry) Dankbar and his brother; Robert (Mary) Dankbar, 6 nieces and nephews, and several great-nieces and nephews. In death he rejoins his parents; Anthony and Zelda (Croker) Dankbar and his sister; Mary (Dankbar) Friday.
