James Louis Doser, 65, of Melbourne passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2014, at home under the care of the Iowa River Hospice Home and surrounded by his family. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will be held one hour prior at 12:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. The family requests that everyone dress casual. Memorials may be directed to the family. Jim was born on April 5, 1949, to Louis Paul and Helen Louise (Thompson) Doser in Marshalltown. Jim graduated from West Marshall High School in 1967. Jim served his country honorably in the United States Army serving in the 1st Air Cavalry and was honorably discharged in 1975. On July 30, 1976, Jim was united in marriage to Kay Harding. Jim farmed until 1996 and also was a maintenance worker for Dayco/Hannifin until his retirement in 2010. He also volunteered at the State Center Nursing Home. Jim enjoyed to fish, garden, and hunt. He also cherished the time he spent with his familyespecially his grandchildren. Left to cherish Jims memory is his wife of almost 38 years, Kay; children: Katie Doser of Marshalltown, Ron (Meagan) Doser of Melbourne, Kelly Harding of Melbourne, Gary Mike (Tina) Harding of Rhodes, Kevin (Ashleigh) Doser of Clemons, Niki (Steve Ayres) Doser of Rhodes. Grandchildren: Micaela and Mathew Selk of Lone Tree, Ava Lynn and Mary Ella Harding, Cody and Derek Walters and Ruth, Serina, Brody, Taylor, Rylee and Avery Doser. Siblings: Ray (Sheila) Doser of New Providence, Betty (Jeff) Damman of Melbourne, Majory (Randy) Haley of Colo, Jean (Ron) Shipley of Clemons, Teresa (John) Chance-Haggerty of Houston, Texas, Mary Doser of Kentucky, Carol (John) Gogerty of Deep Haven, Minnesota; brother in law, Brad Weikert of Des Moines, Iowa. Also left to cherish his memory are his aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Kenneth Doser; paternal grandparents, Theodore and Emma Doser; and maternal grandparents, Leroy and Esther Thompson.
