James Raymond Harland

James “Jim” Raymond Harland, 70, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on Friday, June 15, 2018 at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. Following Jim’s wishes cremation rites have been accorded.  Public visitation will be held on Friday, June 22, 2018 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Mitchell Family Funeral Home. James Raymond Harland was born on December 31, 1947 in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Ervine Harland and Velma (Seberg) Odegaard.  He was a graduate from Marshalltown High School.  Following high school, Jim honorably served his country by joining the United States Air Force.  He joined the Air Force in 1969 and retired from there in 1993.  Jim was united in marriage to Melissa (Stone) Mallory.  The two later divorced.  From this union two daughters were born: Justina and Jaime. He had a passion for fishing, hunting and coin collecting.  Left to cherish his memory are his two daughters: Justina (Scott) Beebe and Jaime (Jerry) Olivas; Grandchildren: Raven Beebe, Scott Beebe Jr. and Ryland Olivas; siblings: Connie (Joe) Gates, Mike (Mary) Clemens, John (Erika) Clemens, Bob Harland and Bruce (Bonita) Harland; as well as several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ervine and Velma; one sister-in-law: Lynn Harland.
