James "Jim" "J.D." Donald Lewis

James “Jim” or “J.D.” Donald Lewis, 68, of Marshalltown, passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at UnityPoint Health-Marshalltown Hospital.

Memorial services for Jim will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Visitation will take place prior to the service; from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the family. James Lewis was born on March 15, 1956 in Spencer, Iowa. He was the son of Donald and Marjorie (Huxtable) Lewis. Jim graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1974 and took some college courses at Iowa State University. In 1983, Jim was united in marriage to Sally Kouba and to this union, they had two children: Sarah and Denise. Jim and Sally would later divorce but remained good friends. Jim had previously worked for the Marshalltown School District as a custodian. He enjoyed riding and showing his horses and listening to country music (especially Garth Brooks). Jim also enjoyed watching the Chicago Bears and Iowa State Cyclones and had a “sweet tooth”, whether it was peanut M & M’s or ice cream. Above all else, Jim enjoyed the time spent with his grandchildren.

Jim is survived by his daughters: Sarah Lewis of Marshalltown and Denise Webber of Marshalltown. Grandchildren: Brayden, Grady and Aubrey. Siblings: Patty Stull of Marshalltown, Barb Morton of Phoenix, Arizona, Tom (Jackie) Lewis of Marshalltown and Debbie (Ken) Harrelson of Marshalltown.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents: Donald and Marjorie and sisters: Kathy Mowry and Donna Beyer.
