James Howard Jones

James Howard Jones, 80, of Marshalltown, passed away on the evening of Tuesday, June 6, at the Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, June 10, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one-hour prior to the services. He will be laid to rest with a funeral service to be held at the Galilee Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Lake, MS. For condolences, please visit www.mitchellfh.com. Ph. 641-844-1234. Born on January 14, 1937, in Mississippi, he was one of 11 children born to Jimmie Jones and Bennie Mae (Jones) Jones. He received his education at the Scott County, Mississippi District (Galilee Line School and Sherman Hill high School. On March 20, 1963, he was united in marriage to Flora Wilson. The couple made their home in Marshalltown all of their married lives but still held Mississippi and Alabama dearly in their hearts. James was a hard-working man sometime holding two jobs at once. He was employed at Swifts, Gra-Iron and PCA amongst others. Mr. Jones joined the Galilee Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and later a member of the Second Baptist Church in Marshalltown. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Sharon D. Jones (Bill Thompson) of Des Moines and Aundray Jones (Kellie Lindblom) of Cedar Rapids; granddaughter, Jasmyne Kianna Jones; siblings, Jimmie Lee (Villia) Jones of Flint, MI, Charles Albert (Ruby) Jones of Jackson MS, Willie Earl (Loretta) Jones of Ridgeland, MS, Bobby Glen (Kathryn) Jones of Jackson, MS, Mary Jeanetta (Wesley) Shelby of Flint MI, Dorothy Lois Peterson of Lake, MI, Shirley Jean (Thomas) of Mt. Gilead, North Carolina and Glennie Mae Rowland of Columbus, Georgia. In death, he rejoined his loving wife Flora who passed away in 2011; his parents, Jimmie (Bennie Mae) Jones and brothers, Carl Herman Jones and J. C. Jones.
