James Herbert “Jim” Lee Jr., age 67 of Marshalltown, passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at the Iowa River Hospice House, after a 15-month battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born James Herbert Lee Jr. on January 2, 1958 in McAlester, Oklahoma, the son of James Herbert “Herb” Lee Sr. and Wilma (Blevins) Lee. Jim graduated from Stewart High School in Oklahoma. He went on to Okmulgee Tech, now known as Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology, where he graduated as an electronics technician.

Jim worked for Rockwell Collins International in Dallas, TX for 22 years where he worked on many interesting projects including troubleshooting electronics equipment for a company in Sweden. After leaving Dallas, Jim resided in New Mexico and Ohio, and later returned back to the homestead in Oklahoma where he worked as a surveyor.

In 2010, Jim met his perfect companion, Brenda E. (Fox) Lindholm. The two were intrigued by each other immediately and grew a strong bond and love over their shared interests. Jim moved to Iowa in 2011 to be closer to Brenda. On May 12, 2012, Jim and Brenda were united in marriage in McAlester, OK. From this union, Jim was blessed with Brenda’s children and became a doting grandpa to the grandkids. Jim and Brenda were meant to be – they shared interests, his passions became hers and hers became his. The couple spent as much of their time together as possible.

Jim’s passion was trains; He had quite the collection! Jim was a member of the Iowa Central Modular R.R. He joined the Boy Scouts of America Troop 308, as the Troop Committee Advancement Chair. He also achieved his Brotherhood in the Order of the Arrow. Jim and Brenda were both past members of the local Astronomy Club and both volunteered for the county conservation center. Jim and Brenda enjoyed nature, whether they were hiking, tent camping, or gardening.

In recent years, Jim worked at Hobby Lobby in Marshalltown as the lead framer. Jim decided to retire when he received his diagnosis.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, Herb Lee. He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda; her children: Justin Holger (Jennifer) Lindholm and their children, Nash and Hayes, of Kansas City, MO; Anika Heather (Kurt) Koch and their children, Emmett and Ingrid, of Arnold, MO; and William Cavan (Morwyn) Lindholm of Leavenworth, KS. He is also survived by his mother, Wilma Lee of OK; sisters, JennyAnn (Jerry) Garner of TX and Lisa Lynn Lee of OK; along with numerous other loved ones.

Memorial donations may be directed to Jim’s family for later designation.
