James D. Reichlinger, age 93, formerly of West Point, Nebraska passed away on December 25, 2024, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, Iowa.
A graveside service with full military honors is scheduled for Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 12:30 P.M. at the St. Michael Cemetery in West Point, Nebraska. Memorials may be directed to the family for a later designation. Mitchell Family Funeral Home of Marshalltown has been entrusted with the care of James and his family. James Dean Reichlinger was born June 29, 1931, in West Point, Nebraska. He was the son of Nicholas John and Lesta Helen (Flores) Reichlinger. James graduated from West Point High School and continued his education at Iowa State University, where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture. He proudly served his country for 19 years in the United States Air Force, where he attained the rank of Major.
James was united in marriage to Willie Geraldine Meaux in Abbeville, Louisiana. He was a regional sales manager for Hardi Agricultural Spraying Equipment till his retirement. He had the opportunity to live in various places in the U.S., including West Point, NE, Houston, TX, Sacramento, CA, Adel, IA, Jefferson, IA, and Laurel, IA. James was a proud member of the Elmwood Country Club in Marshalltown and the Lions Club in Laurel. In his free time, he enjoyed playing golf, hunting, shooting guns and fishing. A few other passions included mechanics, planting bird food plots, and natural prairie restoration.
James is survived by his son Burke Lee (Mary S.) Reichlinger, and his two grandchildren: William Francis and Elizabeth Therese Reichlinger.
He is preceded in death by his parents Nicholas and Lesta; and his brother Perry Flores Reichlinger.
