James 'Jim' Springer

James Jim Springer, 56, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed away on March 24, 2015, at home, surrounded by his loving family. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Sunday, March 29, 2015, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 on Sunday before the service. Phone 641-844-1234. James Springer was born on March 17, 1959, in Oceanside, California. He was the son of Lyle and Janice (Tough) Springer. Jim graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1977. He went on to attend Marshalltown Community College. On October 24, 1986, Jim was united in marriage to Christine Mills in Nevada, Iowa. They lived in Conrad for 17 years, later returning to Marshalltown. He was employed at Lennox Industries for 28 years. Jim was a member of Conrad United Methodist Church and the Iowa Antique Bottlers. He enjoyed fishing, collecting bottles and other antiques, hiking, and the outdoors in general. He loved learning about history and loved his music, but his top priority was always his family. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 28 years, Christine, of Marshalltown, Iowa; children: Alicia (Blake) Matney, Sarina (Lance Flathers) Springer, and McKinly Springer; grandson, Parker Matney; parents, Lyle and Janice Springer; siblings: Loreene (Dan) Stackhouse, and Jeffrey Springer; many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles, and a host of friends. In death, he rejoins his grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and nephews.
