James F. Stevens

James F. Stevens, 77, of Marshalltown, died late Sunday night, June 23rd, at his home. Graveside services conducted by his family will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 28th, at the Jackson Township Cemetery at Montezuma. There will be no visitation. Born on April 6th, 1936, in Philadelphia, PA. he was the son of Carroyl Cornelius and Rose Marie (Metzler) Stevens. He received his education in South Dakota and Philadelphia, since his grandparents lived in each community. He received his GED in 1979. On February 7th, 1959, he was united in marriage to Mary Louise Figland in Des Moines. They moved to California in 1961 and moved back to raise their family in the Lynnville-Sully area in 1973. Later they moved to Montezuma. James was employed as a quality control supervisor at Donaldsons and later Sutherlands in Montezuma. He was a member of the Lafayette Masonic Lodge #53 A.F. & A.M. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Tressa Snook of Marshalltown, son James C. Stevens of Guernsey, Iowa, nine grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, two nieces he raised as daughters including Rose Marie Shepard, and a sister Frances Williams in California.
